We are officially now in the first day of Autumn so I thought it was about time I added my birthday wishes to the Bauhaus, an art movement that could be said to be the cornerstone of modernism, for architecture, design and fashion. Its influence is still very much with us and museums, galleries and global brands have been queuing up to add their birthday wishes, even Nike have created a range in homage to Bauhaus.
Founded by Walter Gropius in 1st April 1919 in Wiemar. The school was revolutionary in its teaching methods bringing together a community of artists and designers that reads like a roll call of some of the most influential artists and designers of the early 20th century, Marcel Breuer, Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Miles van der Rohe, Gunta Stolzl, Anni Albers, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy.
